What’s Your Hurry, Mother? | Homemaker Poetry Series

This poem was inspired by the busyness of motherhood. It’s written from the child’s perspective as a gentle plea to slow down and steward their little hearts while they are still in our care.

What’s your hurry, Mother?

By: Haley Littlepage

What’s your hurry, Mother?

These little hands just aim to please.

All the things I watch you do

could also include me

What’s your hurry, Mother?

We’re running out of time.

Teach me in which ways to go;

allow me at your side.

What’s your hurry, Mother?

There’s no place I’d rather be.

Let me help you while I can;

for I’m not a child long, you see.

Dear Homemaker,

I pray this poem blesses you! The years we have with our little ones are so short. God placed them in our care so thar we may lead them to Christ and teach them how to live.

Invite your children into daily activities like Bible reading, prayer, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, etc. By doing so, they learn alongside you how to live and they won’t feel so lost in this world as they enter adulthood.

Model for them a life rich in faithfulness to God, responsibility to care for what we’ve been given and a deep love for others.

Follow along on YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest for more poetry written for the Christian homemaker and mother.

Humbly,

Haley
