Why Use Daily Rhythm Cards in your Homeschool?

Finding your homeschool daily rhythm can be a challenge. Mostly, because your daily rhythm may change on a week to week or hour to hour basis depending on the season of life that you’re in.

It’s beneficial for both you and your children to know what the plan of the day is. It helps keep everyone on the same page and on track.

Homeschool daily rhythm cards allow to you to map out your day in a visual way. They also allow the flexibility to shuffle things around if your plans change.

These free daily rhythm cards are inspired by Charlotte Mason’s method of education, specifically, Ambleside Online’s curriculum but they will work for any Charlotte Mason curriculum.

The homeschool daily rhythm cards include:

  • Subject cards: literature, math, nature study, picture study, morning time etc.

  • Meal times: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, tea time

  • Housekeeping

  • Extra-curriculars: out-of-doors, co-op, instrument practice, etc.

  • Daily chores for little learners: get dressed, brush teeth, bathtime, etc.

  • Blank cards to write in activities outside of “the norm” (i.e. Grandma’s house, vacation bible school, play date, girl scouts, soccer game, etc.)

How to Display Your Homeschool Daily Rhythm Cards

I highly recommend laminating your daily rhythm cards when you print them out. This helps them last longer. It also allows you to use the blank pages as a mini dry erase option for random activities.

I don’t have a laminator, so I emailed the file to my local UPS Store to have them printed and laminated there.

There are two different ways you can display your daily rhythm cards:

Option One

Hang them on a string using pretty office binder clips or clothespins.

You can hang them on a wall, off of your chalkboard or dry erase board.

Anywhere in your homeschooling space will work.

Option Two (I chose this one)

Purchase a Velcro strip that works like a command strip. They are pretty inexpensive and can be found in craft stores or craft sections at your local big box store. I added mine to my Walmart grocery pickup order, so I didn’t even have to make an extra trip to the store!

I attached one side of the Velcro to the side of our dry erase board in our homeschool area in our dining room.

Then I cut the other side of the Velcro into small squares and stuck them on the back of my daily rhythm cards.

It’s that simple!

The best news? These are a free printable so the only cost to you is printing and laminating.
